Opportunity Village to Begin Construction on Northwest Campus and Betty’s Village North
LAS VEGAS (September 25, 2024) – To fulfill a critical need in Southern Nevada, Opportunity Village plans to begin construction on the Betty’s Village North and the Opportunity Village Northwest Campus project in early October.
The announcement follows today’s ceremonial groundbreaking at the nonprofit’s original residential community, Betty’s Village. Today’s event featured community leaders and Opportunity Village team members celebrating the start of the $59 million Opportunity Village Northwest Campus and Betty’s Village North project. Spread across 17.6 acres at the intersection of North Thom and Rome boulevards, just off North Decatur Blvd. and the I-215, construction will commence next week.
“Betty’s Village, the first residential community for people of diverse abilities from Opportunity Village, was filled to capacity within five months of opening in June 2021. Betty’s Village North would help relieve the current waiting list of more than 200 people, said Bob Brown, president and CEO of Opportunity Village. “We know there’s a huge need for this type of community. This project helps answer the question of what will happen to my loved one when I’m gone, a question many of us ask regularly.”
The Opportunity Village Northwest Campus will feature day habilitation program spaces and onsite workforce training, a retail store, art studio, and coffee shop. Betty’s Village North will feature 90 residences, including one- and two-bedroom apartments, and four-bedroom homes, providing over 125 residents with accessible and affordable housing. The gated community will feature front-porch living, walking and bike paths, a barbecue area and community park.
Opportunity Village is in the midst of a capital campaign to raise funds for the project. Interested parties are able to receive more information or donate by visiting www.OVNorthwest.org.
